In general, our glorious 44-day war, our Victory, is studied today in the world’s leading universities, and already military experts, specialists, and even politicians of many countries talk about our war and say that it is the war of the XXI century. It is gratifying that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has visited the territories freed from occupation in the past four months since the end of the war, participated in the groundbreaking ceremonies of important infrastructure facilities, met with the military, and gave valuable recommendations regarding the restoration works. As reported, on March 15, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, first lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughters Leyla Aliyeva visited Fuzuli and Khojavand regions, and again on March 16 in Shusha city. Our head of state participated in a number of events within the mentioned visit. President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev raised our national flag in Hadrut settlement. In his speech at the event, our head of state spoke in detail about the successful operations of our Armed Forces during the 44-day Patriotic War, and the fact that our country started construction works in the territories freed from occupation, despite the fact that the war ended shortly.
Proudly pointing out that our tricolor flag is flying in all territories freed from occupation, the head of state emphasized: “Today we have returned here as the owners of these lands, the flag of Azerbaijan is flying in all liberated lands. “Today, I raised our national flag in Hadrut town as the Supreme Commander of our victorious army. This flag will fly here forever. We Azerbaijanis will live forever in our ancestral lands. We will rebuild all the destroyed cities and villages, life will return, people will return, and we will once again show the greatness of our nation to the whole world.” Our army liberated a large part of our lands from occupation on the battlefield in the Patriotic War. The war that lasted from September 27 to November 10 last year was fair for Azerbaijan and unfair for the occupying Armenia. The enemy intended to continue the policy of aggression and seize new territories. Azerbaijan’s only goal was to ensure its territorial integrity, and it succeeded. Some forces who want to overshadow our victory say that Azerbaijan returned only seven districts in the war. This is not so. As President Ilham Aliyev stated, we have liberated seven districts, Shusha city, Sugovushan settlement, Talish settlement, former Hadrut district, and most of the former Martuni district and restored historical justice.
Thus, Azerbaijan has achieved historical achievements while restoring its territorial integrity. Fighting under the leadership of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our Army managed to liberate a large part of our lands occupied by the enemy directly on the battlefield for three decades. The settlement of Hadrut is also among the settlements liberated from occupation by our army during military operations. After the liberation of Hadrut from occupation, our Armed Forces went to Shusha. After the liberation of Shusha on November 8, and more than 70 settlements the next day, the enemy, realizing that he was unable to continue the war, was forced to sign the tripartite Declaration, which was considered an act of capitulation.
Occupying Armenia, which assumed a number of obligations with the above-mentioned statement, handed over Aghdam, Kalbajar, and Lachin regions to Azerbaijan without a fight until December 1. In general, our Army carried out all operations during the 44-day war based on special plans prepared under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. President Ilham Aliyev pointed out that the Azerbaijani Army brought something new to world military history in the Patriotic War, “Our glorious 44-day war, our Victory, is being studied today in the world’s leading universities, and already military experts, specialists, and even politicians of many countries are talking about our war. This is the war of the 21st century” – he emphasized.
Currently, various infrastructure projects are being implemented in the liberated territories in parallel. The construction of the international airport, the foundation of which was laid in Fuzuli with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev, is being intensively continued. Drinking water was pumped to Shusha in a short time. Work is also underway to draw water from alternative sources to the city. “Azerishiq” Open Joint Stock Company (ASC) provided electricity to Shusha. “Azerenerji” is also building high-voltage lines and constructing a power substation to provide the city with sustainable electricity. President Ilham Aliyev also got acquainted with the construction works carried out in Shusha. The museum-mausoleum complex of Molla Panah Vagif, which was destroyed by the Armenians during the three-decade occupation, the palace of Panahali Khan, the founder of Shusha, the 19th-century Caravanserai historical-architectural complex located in the central square of Shusha, the building of the Shusha State Art Gallery, the “Karabagh” hotel, the Park hotel and former sanatorium building will be restored based on special projects. Restoration works have already started in a number of facilities. Separate projects, including the restoration of the Molla Panah Vagif museum-mausoleum complex, will be implemented by the Fund named after our National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
